Wuchene, the traditional Dance company from Mozambique, now dancing Lindy Hop with Maputo Afro Swing, has the big dream to make it to New York and the biggest Swing Dancing event of the year Frankie 100. Frankie Manning Foundations has raised money for their event tickets, now we just need the air faires!
After connecting to the Lindy Hop world in Herräng Dance Camp the members of Wuchene Dance Company and their project Maputo Afro Swing are exited to keep on representing Africa at Lindy Hop events. However, due to lack of financial resources, traveling the world is difficult. However, it does not make their precence less important; respresenting Moçambique and Africa in New York.
Frankie 100 is a world celebration of Lindy Hop in New York . Support these young dancers from the suburbs in Mozambique to follow their dream and share what they have to offer with the world!
Wuchene Dance Company has been bringing together children and youth to the world of dance and music for over 10 years. They are a group of young people from the suburb of Maputo who know what they want with ther lives, who without formal dance education, in precarious venues have worked hard and managed to become the second biggest dance group of traditional Moçambican dancing.
